The prompt for today was "an unopened letter." But, the letter that remained unopened was today’s prompt. I had no time for flash fiction, reality’s allure was much more fun.
After months of being cooped up in the house because of Covid, my husband and I took off for some relaxation and recreation in Half Moon Bay, California. We rejoined our friends from the Orinda Hiking Club for a fabulous day of laughter and camaraderie. We hiked the Cowell-Purisima Coastal Trail for nearly nine miles along the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The dazzling yellow mustard seed fields announced that spring is almost here, and the majestic green mountains in the distance reminded us why we love California. We finished the day at Mezza Luna for a scrumptious Italian meal of Insalata Caprese, Pesce and Pasta di Giorno, Sautéed Snapper, and Penne Pastore. We drank a bottle of a delicious Duckhorn Cab, topped off with raspberry lemon cake and a cappuccino. It doesn’t get better than this!
I will return tomorrow for more flash fiction writing, but tonight, I will delight in remembering a fantastic day.
